Agree, special events are a great way to promote a cause. We've done this for church and a nonprofit I've worked with.

There are so many things that make a great event. I really think that all the points you have made are wonderful. The one that really stands out to me as the most crucial is the venue.

Events are a great way to raise awareness for important causes.

The article talks about using the internet and social media as a cost efficient means of inviting people to particular events and finding inexpensive materials.

To expand on that thought a bit – social media is also a great way to raise event awareness and ask for additional donations. Using popular platforms like Twitter and Facebook, event organizers can create excitement and generate interest in upcoming events. The platforms can also be used to solicit additional donations. An ‘all hands on deck’ type message sent out to followers could help capture additional volunteers or donations for event prizes and event necessities (like food, decorations, supplies, etc.)
